We have been busy studying multiplication in room 37! It is important that students know the multiplication facts up to 10x10. There are many games available to help students practice these facts on http://connected.mcgraw-hill.com/, such as Baseball Multiplication, Beat the Computer, and Multiplication Top-It. If you are looking for additional ways to help your child master these facts, please let me know.
In this unit, students will explore fact extensions, metric conversions, and the partial products method. The connection between multiplication and area of rectilinear figures will also be made. Students will also be introduced to the traditional, or standard, multiplication algorithm, and they can then choose whichever method works best for them.
As a reminder, students can also reference the student reference book at http://connected.mcgraw-hill.com/ Each home link includes a SRB page in the top right-hand corner that supports the assignment. You also should have received a Unit 4 Family Letter. Please let me know if you need another copy.
